Obi, Tinubu and Atiku Hail Super Falcons’ Record 10th WAFCON Title

Peter Obi hailed Nigeria’s Super Falcons on Sunday as embodiments of the “indomitable Naija spirit,” congratulating them for their dramatic 3–2 comeback win over Morocco and securing a record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations crown  .  Obi’s statement, posted on his social feed, praised the team’s resilience and declared, “History bows to your greatness—Mission X done and dusted.”

President Bola Tinubu offered his own commendation in a press release issued by the State House, lauding the Falcons’ “hard work, dedication, and tenacity” and pledging to welcome the champions back to a heroes’ reception in Abuja  .  In a video call with team captain Rasheedat Ajibade, Tinubu praised Esther Okoronkwo’s penalty that sparked the turnaround and described the victory as a testament to “the determination that defines the Nigerian spirit.”

Reaction poured in from across Nigeria’s leadership spectrum: former Vice President Atiku Abubakar called the victory “a perfect send-off” for retiring star Asisat Oshoala, while Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the performance as “a flawless 10 out of 10.”  Sports stakeholders—from the NFF president to state football association chiefs—echoed the praise, emphasizing the match as “a reminder that talent, discipline, and belief can conquer any deficit.”

Analysts say the Falcons’ win arrives at a crucial juncture for Nigerian women’s football, highlighting the need for sustained investment and grassroots development.  They note that national euphoria around the 10th title provides a unique window to push for better facilities, sponsorship, and professional leagues that can convert fleeting celebration into long-term growth.
