Manchester United and AFC Bournemouth shared the spoils in a breathtaking 4-4 draw at Old Trafford on Monday night, in a match described as one of the most exciting of the Premier League season. Under the lights in Manchester, the game swung back and forth for nearly 100 minutes, with United taking an early lead through Amad Diallo before a relentless Bournemouth side fought back.
The first half was a pulsating affair, with United dominating the opening exchanges and taking the lead in the 13th minute when Amad nodded in a cross from Diogo Dalot. Bournemouth leveled the score late in the half through Antoine Semenyo, only for Casemiro to restore United’s lead with a header just before the break. Despite the advantage, Amorim expressed frustration at his side’s inability to “close the game out,” noting that the scoreline at halftime could have been much more emphatic given the number of chances his team created.
The second half began in explosive fashion as Bournemouth scored twice in the first six minutes to take a 3-2 lead, with goals from Evanilson and Marcus Tavernier silencing the home crowd. United responded with goals from Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha, momentarily putting the Reds back in front. However, a final strike from Cherries substitute Junior Kroupi ensured the contest finished level, marking a rare high-scoring stalemate that showcased the defensive vulnerabilities of both sides alongside their attacking prowess.
