Professor Soludo Declared Winner Of Anambra Governorship Election By Landslide

 

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has been declared the winner of the Anambra State governorship election held on Saturday, 8 November 2025. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) State Returning Officer, Professor Edoba Omoregie, announced the final results on Sunday morning after the collation of figures from all 21 local government areas (LGAs) of the state.

Professor Soludo secured a decisive victory, polling a total of 422,664 votes, maintaining a massive lead over his closest rival, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nicholas Ukachukwu, who scored 99,445 votes. The candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Sir Paul Chukwuma, came third with 37,753 votes. Professor Soludo secured a clean sweep, winning in all 21 local government areas of the state in a landslide victory, thereby securing a second term in office.

According to the final figures announced by INEC at its headquarters in Awka, the state capital, a total of 16 candidates from various political parties participated in the election. Out of 2,788,864 registered voters, 598,229 were accredited to vote. The total valid votes stood at 584,054, with 11,244 votes rejected, bringing the total votes cast to 595,298.

The collation exercise had been briefly suspended overnight and resumed in the early hours of Sunday to announce the final results, which included the two remaining local government areas, Ihiala and Anambra West. The final figures for the four leading parties were: APGA 422,664, APC 99,445, LP 10,576, and PDP 1,401.
