The Zamfara chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has alleged that some politicians are planning to disrupt the homecoming visit of the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, to the state on Thursday. The state APC publicity secretary, Yusuf Idris, briefed journalists in Gusau on Wednesday, alleging that thugs were hired by some politicians working against the APC to distract from the event.
Mr Idris said the APC had concluded arrangements to receive Mr Matawalle on his homecoming to meet with party leaders, members, supporters, and relations in Gusau and his hometown, Maradun. He noted, “Unfortunately, we have received credible information that there is a serious, destructive plan for the minister’s visit.”
The party also urged its members to disregard any propaganda and plan to distract the minister’s official visit to the state. The APC cautioned all members against carrying any type of weapon throughout the visit to ensure adherence to law and order.
Mr Idris alleged that the destructive plan includes stationing “gun-wielding thugs who will shoot at random at our motorcade around Tsafe and while on our way to Maradun.” He called on the security agencies to take note of the development and act appropriately by getting hold of anyone who is not an APC member and handing him over to security personnel covering the activities.
