The Ogun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a statement reaffirming that the suspension of the Senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Olugbenga Daniel, remains in full effect. The party warned that any engagements conducted with him as a member of the APC are therefore invalid and unrecognised.
The party made its position clear in an official correspondence sent to the APC National Chairman, which drew attention to what it described as Senator Daniel’s “continued public disregard for party discipline” despite being suspended. The letter, dated 3 October 2025, was jointly signed by the State Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, and State Secretary, Hon. Tella Aderibigbe.
According to the Ogun APC, the decision to suspend Senator Daniel was taken on 19 August 2025 and formally communicated to him. The party emphasised that, under the APC Constitution, a suspended member automatically forfeits all privileges and rights associated with party membership.
The correspondence quoted Article 21, subsection (vii) of the APC Constitution, which stipulates that a suspended member is stripped of voting rights, attendance at party meetings, and participation in party activities until the suspension is lifted. The party stressed that a member suspended pending investigation “is expressly barred from participating in the proceedings of any party organ.”
The party urged all government institutions, political actors, and the general public to note that Senator Daniel cannot legitimately act or be recognised in any capacity as a bona fide member of the APC while his suspension stands. The statement concluded by warning: “Any and all dealings with Otunba Olugbenga Daniel in the capacity of a bona fide member of the APC are invalid, unrecognized, and of no effect to the Party,” as the party reaffirmed its commitment to internal discipline and adherence to constitutional guidelines.
