Former NERC Boss Links PDP’s Self-Destruction to ‘Love of Wike’s Money’.

Dr. Sam Amadi, the former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), has asserted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is responsible for its own decline, attributing the party’s current struggles to an over-reliance on the financial influence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike. Amadi made this declaration while commenting on the recent defection of Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a post on his X handle, Dr. Amadi reiterated his position that the PDP “destroyed itself” through what he termed an excessive “love of Wike’s money.” While acknowledging Governor Mbah’s decision to join the APC, Amadi stated that he did not fault the move. He went on to describe the APC as the country’s most sensible and best-organised political party, despite his view that it was currently led by a “bad” presidential candidate.

However, Dr. Amadi quickly followed up his assessment of the two major parties by stating that Mr Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) remains the most capable individual to rescue Nigeria from its current challenges. He then posed a question regarding the political platform that Mr Obi should utilise for his political ambitions, implicitly highlighting the complex dynamics of party politics in the country.
