A member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Leke Abejide, representing Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro in Kogi State, has asserted that leading figures within the ADC coalition—including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rauf Aregbesola, David Mark, and Rotimi Amaechi—“will be sent out of the ADC,” referencing the party’s internal rules. Abejide emphasized that the party constitution stipulates national office holders must have served for at least two years before occupying such positions.
Speaking on the Mic On podcast, Abejide described the ADC as operating under fixed timelines and cautioned that attempts to shortcut its internal processes would not be tolerated. He portrayed the move as a necessary step to enforce party discipline rather than a personal attack on any member.
Observers say Abejide’s remarks appear intended to clarify internal processes as the ADC solidifies its identity ahead of the 2027 presidential race. By appealing to party rules, he may be attempting to forestall perceptions of factionalism.
Meanwhile, in a related development, Representative Abejide also downplayed speculation that Amaechi is a serious contender in the 2027 ADC presidential race, suggesting that Amaechi may not carry sufficient political weight in his home state of Rivers to be competitive.
