This article explores the self-destructive tendencies within the Woke movement, particularly among Gen Z. While Wokeism aims to address social injustices. it is the extreme manifestations that may inadvertently threaten humanity’s future.
In order to adequately direct the discuss. It’s important to break down the different generations into the following.
- Baby Boomers: Born between 1946 and 1964, this generation is currently aged 57-75 They’re known for being traditional media consumers. They may have a favourite channel or program on TV. Boomers prefer in-person banking transactions and value cash.
- Generation X: Born between 1965 and 1979/80, Gen Xers are currently aged 41-56 ¹. They’re digitally savvy but still enjoy traditional media. Gen X prefers person-to-person banking.
- Generation Y (Millennials): Born between 1981 and 1994/6, Millennials are currently aged 25-40 ¹. They’re extremely comfortable with mobile devices and prefer digital banking tools. Lazy attitude to assigned daily physical chores.
- Generation Z: Born between 1997 and 2012, Gen Zers are currently aged 9-24 ¹. This generation is hyper-connected, with smartphones being their primary method of communication. Gen Z prioritizes debit cards and mobile banking, Extremely rebellious and lazy. Will through a fit if device is taken away.
- Generation Alpha: Born between 2012 and 2025, Gen Alpha is currently aged 0-9 ¹. As digital natives, they expect personalized consumer experiences. Growing up amidst the global pandemic and social justice movements, their banking habits are still evolving. They are extremely addicted to digital devices and the TV with few exceptions.
To add to the mix, Wokeism as a term originated from the African American community particularly among social justice and civil rights movements. It meant being aware of and attentive to systemic injustices with particular focus on racism. It has since extended to protecting rights of other minority groups like the LGBTQ and people of colour in general.
Gen Z’s indoctrination and subsequent enthusiasm for social justice is admirable, but an alarming trend has emerged. Self-destructive Wokeism prioritizes performative activism over constructive dialogue, fueling:
- Identity essentialism: Reducing individuals to their group identities, stifling nuance and individuality.
- Cancel culture: Suppressing free speech and open discourse. You would notice in the last election the choice of a candidate by Al[ha males with little or no care for intentions.
- Intersectional competition: Creating hierarchies of oppression, fostering division. The Jews who came from oppression oppress other races, Asians oppress Africans immigrants and so on.
As a result, there is an isolation and polarization of differences stiffling any constructive discussion or negotiation to avoid abuse of original intentions.
We see today people openly flaunting their animality in their community without a care for the consequences of communal attacks and possible fatalities.
Self-destructive Wokeism risks undermining humanity’s progress.
Gen Z must balance passion for justice with rational discourse and empathy. By recognizing the complexities of social issues and engaging in constructive dialogue, we can create a more inclusive, equitable society without sacrificing intellectual freedom and human connection.
Without human connections, human procreation will dwindle in addition to the already sterile nature of LGBTQ. This would seem like the beginning of the end for humanity unless common ground is found for minority and majority rights alike.
Let’s do better as human beings.
