Valentino Garavani, the iconic Italian fashion designer, has passed away at the age of 93.
In a statement posted on Instagram on Monday, his foundation announced that he died peacefully at his Rome residence while surrounded by family.
“The Fondazione Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giametti announces the passing of its founder, Valentino Garavani, who peacefully passed away today at his residence in Rome, surrounded by the love of his family,” the statement reads.

Valentino is often described as one of the most iconic fashion designer’s of all time.
He founded the Valentino fashion house, renowned for defining modern luxury and haute couture.
Born on May 11, 1932, in Voghera, Italy, he developed an early passion for fashion and went on to study at prestigious schools in Milan and Paris, where he refined his skills under leading couture houses.
He established Valentino in Rome in 1960, quickly earning international acclaim for his impeccable tailoring, romantic silhouettes, and sophisticated elegance.
His work became synonymous with glamour, femininity, and timeless beauty, with “Valentino Red” emerging as one of the most recognizable colors in fashion history.
Valentino dressed some of the world’s most influential women, including Jackie Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, and Princess Diana.
Throughout his career, he received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to fashion. Valentino retired from designing in 2008, leaving behind a lasting legacy.
