What is the current organizational structure of the Nigeria Diaspora Organization, and how does it facilitate effective governance?
NIDOA operates as a federated organization with a hierarchical structure under the global NIDO Worldwide jurisdiction, comprising:
Board of Trustees (BoT): This is the highest governing body responsible for providing strategic direction, ensuring compliance with the organization’s mission, and overseeing major decisions.
Board of Directors (BoD): This comprises of elected and appointed officials. The country executives manage the day-to-day operations and execute the strategic plans across the different countries in the Americas.
Chapter Executives: Each NIDOA chapter (across different states or regions) has its own leadership team, responsible for the local implementation of initiatives and member engagement.
General Assembly at chapter level and at AGM for the continental body: This includes all registered members, who have the right to vote and participate in decision-making during general meetings. This structure ensures accountability, coordination, and representation of the diverse Nigerian diaspora community, promoting effective governance.
How does the Board of Trustees ensure accountability and transparency within the organization?
The BoT ensures accountability and transparency through the following mechanisms:
Financial Reviews: NIDOA conducts periodic internal and external reviews to ensure financial integrity. A yearly audit is published and presented during the Annual General Meeting.

The nucleus of the NIDOA ACADEMY has been started by NIDOA BRAZIL chapter, which offers language courses to Nigerians, Brazilians and other interested students from many other countries.
Foreign countries through NIDOA solicitation have engaged in teaching English to locals and vice versa for new immigrants.
