Reno Omokri Caught in Coastal Road Fakeout: Watchdog Exposes Drive That Never Happened

A whistleblower video has exposed social commentator Reno Omokri for fabricating a journey on a section of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway that isn’t even operational. Shared on X and corroborated by Arise TV host Rufai Oseni, the footage reveals that Omokri claimed to drive 30 km of the highway—but only about 10 km is actually motorable.

Oseni backed this with on-site observations, affirming that the road Omokri boasted about doesn’t exist beyond the small section, labeling his claim fraudulent. Comedian Acapella and other critics have since slammed Omokri, accusing him of deflecting from deeper questions about tolling and contract transparency. The controversy has cast doubt on his credibility in national infrastructure debates.

Omokri defended himself by asserting that the highway is a Public–Private Partnership—thus arguing toll charges are justified even on publicly funded roads. He urged critics to look to global precedents before seizing on misinformation.
