International Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has announced his formal entry into partisan politics by joining the Accord Party. The singer revealed his decision via his verified social media handle on Tuesday, 23rd December 2025, stating that he would be in Osogbo on Wednesday to collect his membership card at “Imole House.” The move signals a direct political alignment with his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party to pursue his 2026 re-election bid.
Governor Adeleke’s departure from the PDP, which occurred on 9th December 2025, followed a protracted leadership crisis within the national wing of the party. Davido, who has been a vocal supporter of his uncle’s political journey, had previously hinted at the move on social media.
