Management Sciences Conference Comes To UniPort Virtually In May With Prof Mondy Gold As Keynote

UniPort Management Department To Host Maiden Virtual International Conference In May
The Department of Management, Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Port Harcourt, in collaboration with the African Policy and Research Consortium and Shine Bright Universal Services Limited, will hold its maiden virtual international conference on 21 and 22 May 2026. The conference is themed “Advancing Management Sciences in Multidisciplinary Settings: From Theory to Practice” and will bring together scholars, researchers and practitioners across nine sub-thematic areas including digital transformation and technology-driven management, sustainability and corporate social responsibility, operations and supply chain management, organisational behaviour and leadership, finance and risk management, indigenous management practices and African business systems, and entrepreneurship, tourism and innovation management. The event represents the department’s first foray into international academic convening and signals a broadening of its research and knowledge-exchange ambitions beyond the domestic academic environment.

Professor Mondy Gold, Co-Chairman of the African Policy and Research Consortium, will deliver the keynote address, with Professor Malami Maishanu Yabo, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) of Usman Dan Fodio University Sokoto, serving as lead paper presenter. The conference will be chaired by Professor O. A. Georgewill, Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, with Professor G. O. Omojefe, Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, serving as co-host, and Dr. Waribugo Sylva, Acting Head of the Department of Management, as host. The Local Organising Committee is chaired by Dr. J. E. O. Oshi and secretaried by Dr. I. O. Chukwuma, whose contact details have been published for enquiries.

Prospective participants and paper presenters face a structured set of deadlines: abstracts must be submitted by 7 May 2026, with full papers and payment due by 14 May 2026. The conference fee is set at N25,000 per participant, payable to Shine Bright Universal Services Limited through Zenith Bank account number 1229813738. Abstracts and full papers are to be submitted electronically to mgt_conference@uniport.edu.ng, a dedicated conference email established for the purpose.
The event sits within a broader pattern of Nigerian universities seeking to elevate their academic profiles through international virtual platforms — a trend accelerated by the post-pandemic normalisation of remote scholarly exchange, which has reduced the logistical and financial barriers to convening international academic audiences.

For the University of Port Harcourt’s management department specifically, the collaboration with the African Policy and Research Consortium lends the conference a policy-oriented dimension that extends its relevance beyond purely academic circles, positioning it at the intersection of management scholarship and the kind of applied policy research that African institutions and governments increasingly require.
