Peace Oyeinmiede Ogonodi has secured a nomination for the Ambassador’s Cup 2025 for her project aimed at expanding horizons through Portuguese language education in Nigeria. Her initiative promotes the study of Portuguese as a crucial gateway to educational, trade, and diplomatic opportunities across the Lusophone world, including nations such as Brazil, Mozambique, and Angola. Ogonodi’s vision is to equip young Nigerians, educators, and professionals with the necessary fluency to enhance their access to these global connections.

Currently based in Brazil, Peace Ogonodi is pursuing her Master’s degree in Literature at the University of Brasília (UnB), with the support of CAPES, Brazil’s leading agency for higher education. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Portuguese Language from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Nigeria, providing a solid academic foundation for her project.

Peace’s scholarly work is noted for its deep cultural and linguistic insight, including published academic research that explores religious themes in the fiction of renowned authors Chinua Achebe and Jorge Amado. This research demonstrates her commitment to cross-cultural communication and understanding, which is central to her current project.

The project aligns with the “Give Back To Nigeria” theme of the Ambassador’s Cup by focusing on empowering Nigerians with a skill set that facilitates international engagement and economic advancement. As a nominee associated with NIDO Brazil, Ogonodi is celebrated as a true ambassador of language, culture, and connection, working to bridge cultural gaps and enhance Nigeria’s global reach.
