Ukraine Presses Aerial Campaign Against Russian Targets

Ukraine has intensified its aerial campaign against military and energy facilities inside Russia, as both sides continue exchanging long-range drone and missile attacks in a conflict that shows little sign of easing despite renewed diplomatic activity.
Ukrainian forces have reportedly targeted strategic energy infrastructure and military installations in an effort to weaken Russia’s logistical capabilities and disrupt support for its ongoing military operations. Kyiv maintains that such strikes are aimed at reducing Moscow’s capacity to sustain the war.
At the same time, Russian forces have continued attacks on Ukrainian cities, with one of the latest overnight bombardments of the capital, Kyiv, leaving one person dead and sixteen others injured, according to Ukrainian authorities. Emergency responders were deployed to damaged residential areas as officials assessed the extent of the destruction.
The renewed exchange of attacks underscores the continuing intensity of the conflict, which has increasingly relied on drones, missiles and long-range precision strikes targeting critical infrastructure on both sides of the border.
Beyond the battlefield, diplomatic developments have also attracted international attention. North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin during a visit that was not linked to any publicly announced event, prompting speculation over the purpose of the high-level meeting.
Analysts believe the discussions may be connected to preparations for a possible visit to Russia by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, although neither Moscow nor Pyongyang has officially confirmed such plans.
Relations between Russia and North Korea have grown significantly closer since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, with both countries expanding political, economic and military cooperation despite criticism from Western governments. The latest diplomatic engagement is expected to fuel further speculation about future collaboration between the two nations.
Military analysts say Ukraine’s continued focus on Russian energy and defence infrastructure reflects its strategy of stretching Moscow’s resources while attempting to reduce the effectiveness of Russian military operations. However, they warn that the reciprocal attacks are likely to prolong the conflict and increase humanitarian suffering.
As fighting continues on multiple fronts, international efforts to broker a negotiated settlement remain stalled, leaving the war firmly locked in a cycle of military escalation, diplomatic uncertainty and growing geopolitical consequences.
