ICPC Invites Gbajabiamila Over Alleged Fake Presidential Council Probe

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed that it invited the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, as part of its ongoing investigation into the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
The anti-corruption agency said the invitation was issued solely to gather facts surrounding the activities of the council, which has been at the centre of public controversy over claims that it operated as a presidential body without proper legal backing.
Speaking on the development, the ICPC clarified that the invitation should not be interpreted as an indictment of the Chief of Staff, stressing that the commission is carrying out a comprehensive investigation to establish the facts and determine whether any laws were violated.
The PFIPC controversy has generated widespread public attention after questions emerged regarding the council’s legal status, operational mandate and alleged links to senior government officials. The matter has also attracted criticism from opposition parties and civil society organisations, which have called for greater transparency and accountability.
The ICPC reiterated its commitment to conducting a professional, impartial and evidence-based investigation, assuring Nigerians that all individuals connected with the matter would be treated fairly in accordance with the law.
The commission noted that investigations remain ongoing and urged the public to avoid speculation while the process continues.
The Presidency has yet to issue a detailed response to the latest development, although government officials have previously maintained that they are cooperating with relevant investigative authorities.
The outcome of the investigation is expected to determine whether further legal or administrative actions will be taken concerning the alleged operations of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council.
