  • The family of Nigerian music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia has filed a petition to authorities over allegations of physical assault, financial misconduct, coercion, and emotional abuse by Miss Natasha Iroobosa Osawaru.
  • They say the singer’s safety, mental well-being, and career are now at serious risk.

The family of award-winning musician Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has raised fresh alarm over his safety after filing a detailed petition against his partner, Miss Natasha Iroobosa Osawaru.

In the petition, the family alleged a series of troubling incidents involving physical assault in both the United Kingdom and Abuja. They further claimed that Miss Osawaru gained unauthorized access to the singer’s phone and bank accounts, allegedly transferring funds without his consent.

The petition also alleged that 2Baba’s personal belongings, including his passport and other travel documents, were seized—effectively preventing him from attending performances, contractual obligations, and business engagements.

According to the statement:

“Actions that have allegedly caused financial loss, reputational damage and professional setbacks. Substance abuse by Miss Natasha Irobosa Osawaru, resulting in violent behaviour, caused Mr Innocent Idibia emotional distress and financial loss. Information suggesting a possible violation of marriage laws (bigamy) and fraudulent misrepresentation, which we request be properly investigated.”

The family urged law enforcement to investigate these allegations comprehensively, noting that 2Baba’s personal safety, mental health, and livelihood appear to be in jeopardy.

This is not the first time concerns have been raised regarding the singer’s well-being since his relationship with the lawmaker became public.

In February, 2Baba’s family filed a petition to the State Security Service (SSS), declaring him missing. They stated that neither his record label, staff, friends, nor close associates had been able to reach him after he abruptly left home.

At the time, the family expressed fears of possible abduction, noting suspicious activity linked to his social media accounts. Friends reportedly received messages from unknown persons using his accounts to solicit money — a development that deepened the family’s concern.

The latest allegations now paint a broader picture of distress surrounding the artist’s personal life and raise questions about ongoing patterns of coercion and manipulation.
