In a historic move, members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have elected Hon. Mojisola Meranda as the new Speaker. Hon. Meranda, who previously served as Deputy Speaker under Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, will now lead the assembly representing the Apapa constituency.
Mojeed Fatai has been appointed as the new Deputy Speaker.
Hon. Meranda is also the younger sister of the Oniru of Iruland, HRH Oba Omogbolahan Lawal, adding a notable royal connection to her political career. Her election marks a significant moment for the Lagos Assembly as the state continues to shape its leadership for the coming term.
