EAC and SADC leaders sue for peace.

Part of the communique resolved that.
The conflict in the Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo — driven by historical, economic, and political factors — can not be resolved militarily.

All parties involved must cease hostilities and embrace dialogue.

The East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) will jointly push for a peaceful resolution, prioritising cooperation and civilian protection.

During the joint EAC-SADC Summit at State House, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

In another statement issued by President Kagame, he said

“DRC can not just tell us to keep quiet when they are mounting a security problem against our country. Nobody can tell us to shut up”

“We can’t go on forever massaging problems. What is happening is that there is an ethnic war that has been brewing for a long time, denying people’s rights, and then attacking Rwanda.”

He added that “this war was started by DRC and not anything from Rwanda. It was just brought and put on our shoulders, and we were told to own it. We can’t own it. There is no question about it.”

However, Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi snubbed the high-stakes EAC-SADC summit in Dar es Salaam, opting to send Prime Minister Judith Suminwa instead, but he still participated virtually.

Tensions between Kinshasa and Kigali remain high.
