BREAKING: Senegal announces it is closing all French military bases in the country.

Senegal has announced the closure of all French military bases within its borders, marking a significant step toward asserting its sovereignty. Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and President Bassirou Diomaye Faye have criticized the presence of foreign troops, arguing that it undermines Senegal’s strategic autonomy and national control, more than 60 years after independence. Currently, approximately 350 French troops are stationed in Senegal, primarily in Dakar.
