“A Call to Conscience: Protecting the Rights of Humanitarians and the Vulnerable . Justice for Queen Naomi , Dr. Oriyomi Hamzat, Mr. Principal”. January 4, 2024 .
We at Kaaro Oojiire Omo Oodua Foundation (KOOOF) are compelled to speak out against the unjust detention of former Queen Naomi, mother of TADENIKAWO, heir to the throne of Olofin Adimula, Dr. Oriyomi Hamzat and The Principal. The circumstances surrounding their being on remand are alarming and raise questions about the fairness of our justice system.
Going to a month, Queen Naomi has been incarcerated, a situation deemed ‘Eewo’ (abomination) and a blemish on the Yorùbá race. We weep for the Yorùbá people, humanitarian givers, families of the victims, and those wrongly remanded.
The irony is glaring: parents who, out of desperation, threw their children over the fence, leading to their deaths, are not being held accountable. Instead, the humanitarians who attempted to provide assistance are being unjustly incarcerated and remanded without trial.
This blatant disregard for human rights and the rule of law sends a chilling message to other would-be humanitarians: that their efforts to provide aid and support to the vulnerable will be met with persecution and incarceration.
Can you imagine if this were done to the Sultan of Sokoto? The double standard is glaring. We demand justice and call on the government to:
– Immediately release the unjustly detained humanitarians
– Provide compensation and support to the affected families
– Address the root causes of poverty and economic hardship in our societies.
We stand in solidarity with the vulnerable and humanitarians who risk everything to support them. Together, we can create a more just and compassionate society.

Chairman (KOOOF)
